• My July •
July started for me with a very special day – I was part of the jury at the model casting for this year’s Plus Size Fashion Days here in Hamburg. It was an amazing day and we met lots of beautiful women (and men!), got to choose our favorites and even make one girl happy with a wildcard. This was a new experience for me and I’m glad and thankful to be able to do such cool things thanks to my job as a blogger. I know we all keep saying how much work blogging is (and yes, it is indeed – even though you readers only see the results of our hard work), but there are always such amazing moments, so it’s absolutely worth it!
I actually wanted to visit a few events, but I had some major “feminine problems” this month. Yes, this is a special topic and probably not the most interesting thing for a blog, but maybe there are some of you who have to deal with this too and actually, as I’m also a feminist, I think that this is something we should be talking about in the media more often. So: I want to stop taking the pill (I take it without breaks, in consultation with my doctor, and that’s why she had me take one this month), but since I probably have endometriosis, this isn’t very easy for me. Also, this month I had to learn that my gynecologist likes to fat-shame instead of actually helping me, so now I first need to find a new doctor (any suggestions?) before I can take the next steps.
Also, at the end of the month, I got a bad cold and had to stay in bed for a whole week – THE summer week in Germany. At least it’s still sunny but you can guess how disappointed I was when everyone was having fun outside and I had to spend my days in bed, eating soup and sweating like a pig cause it was REALLY hot those days.
Fun Fact: I’ve not been to the cinema since we moved to Hamburg – that’s more than two years! Good thing my dear friend Sabrina had her birthday and that’s why we celebrated by going out for dinner and watching a movie. We saw “The Conjuring 2” and I must say: it’s not a bad one but it’s definitely too long, and since I’m a horror movie pro (haha!), I wasn’t really scared.
Oh, and that’s something you either love or hate – I’m also a Pokémon trainer! ;) Since I grew up with Pokémon when I was around 10 years old (and still have a stuffed Pikachu at my parents’ place!), Pokémon Go for me is one of the greatest apps ever. I went to a night walk with a friend, I keep watching out for those little monsters and yes, I’m addicted. And not ashamed of it! It’s fun! And I guess the hype will end pretty soon anyways, so why not be a kid for a while, right? ;)
Something amazing happened this month: I received a new gadget for my chronic disease – I’ll be writing about it soon. If you can’t wait to see what it is, you can have a look → here. ;)
August will be full of doctor’s appointments. Just regular checks, but they are necessary – also another thing when you’re a diabetic.
We’ll also be at home for our annual joy – the German-American Volksfest. ;) Can’t wait to spend a great day with our friends!
Currently, there are no events planned for August, but starting in September there will be some action. I’ll let you know everything when the time has come! ;)
