• Recap & Thoughts | #BeachBodyNotSorry 2016 •

It’s already pretty cold outside but I still want to quickly talk about this year’s #BeachBodyNotSorry project and have a look at the beach outfits I wore this season. I kind of felt that plus-sized beach bodies were more present than ever in 2016. Of course there were a few very important moments like → Ashley Graham on the cover of “Sports Illustrated” or the most recent → “All Woman Project” launched by Clementine Desseaux and Charli Howard (featuring some amazing beach wear by Phylyda – I hope I can work with this brand next year!). But we also had bloggers showing their beach bodies everywhere and it makes me proud to say that I’m a part of this – again.

Unfortunately, this time I couldn’t show as many looks as → last year – on the one hand, there simply was a lack of new beach wear (I just didn’t want to wear everything again, but neither did I want to spend loads of money on new stuff – cause our summer in Germany isn’t long enough to hoard uncountable masses of bikinis and swimsuits), on the other hand, I missed almost 90% of our summer because I was very sick. Even beginning to shoot before the start of the official beach season wasn’t that helpful, so I only managed to do five looks (plus two “covered” beach styles, meaning: one with a kaftan and another one wearing transparent stuff over my bikini).

So let’s recap my #BeachBodyNotSorry looks of 2016…

Lu zieht an x persona | #mypersonasummerday

My first look was a collaboration with persona by Marina Rinaldi – I was so happy to be a part of this international project with my fellow bloggers → Susie, → Iris, → Theodora and → Giorgia. Funnily, four of us chose the same swimsuit, so you can see it on different bodies!

Unfortunately, the swimsuit isn’t available anymore, but here are a few alternatives:

Dots

My favorite bikini of the season was this dotted little number by Marina Rinaldi. I felt like a 50s film star in it and tried to show this in the pictures with an appropriate styling. ;) I posted this bikini together with a matching → beach look, wearing transparent beach pants and a sheer silk top. It was just the right look for this bikini! This summer, we spent a little more time at this beach in Wedel – it’s one of my favorites because it’s not too packed.

Like the first swimsuit, this bikini isn’t available anymore (I guess the beach wear section at Marina Rinaldi will only be back next season), but I found a few alternatives:

Kaftan & Cupcakes

For this post, I decided not to take off my insulin pump because diabetes is a part of me and I don’t get why I should be hiding it. Of course, if I want to swim, I have to take it off (because the device isn’t waterproof!) – but when it matches the bikini so well, why not make it a part of the outfit post? :) I also like the irony of the look, being a diabetic and wearing cupcakes, but hey – diabetes is not about the sugar, it’s about the carbs and yes, cupcakes have a few but they won’t kill nobody. ;)

The feedback was absolutely amazing, this is my → most-liked post on Instagram and it was reposted so many times! Of course some trolls didn’t get that I don’t have diabetes because I’m fat and tried to make me proof of “being fat causes diabetes”, but this is also a mission, I think: there’s two types, type 1 and type 2 (and yes, there are even more “types” like gestational diabetes, but these are the main types of diabetes). I’ve got type 1, which means that I was born with it (even though it broke out when I was 10 years old, probably caused by a disease called “Purpura Schönlein-Henoch” I had when I was 8). I think I have to translate the post I wrote about → my story so people can also read it in English (gotta put this on my to-do list!).

This bikini was from last year, so yes, this is another piece that’s sold out, but you can find the same cut with a different print → here.

Cocoa

This was a more editorial-like beach look because I can’t say how it works in the water (I actually haven’t had time to try it out yet!) – at least I can say that it won’t get sheer, so you won’t look naked. ;) But who knows how good the wrapped and knotted bands will stay put on your body? I’d say it will work without any problems, but I’ll have to try it first, of course. ;)

Anyways, I like that this is a super sexy style and it shows – again! – that being fat/plus-sized/curvy (pick your favorite word, I like them all!) is no stop sign for being hot. Period.

Not all colors are still available (mine was from 2015), but have a look right → here and see what’s left and/or wait for the new styles! :)

Rio

My last #BeachBodyNotSorry post was an ode to my love – Rio de Janeiro, thanks to the amazing beach towel from Aragem Rio. These are my favorite photos of this year’s project and the perfect finish for this season. Even though, after my cupcake bikini, I had to cheat this time and retouch the photos to remove the → FreeStyle Libre, my blood sugar measuring system, from my belly because it ruined my feeling of esthetics in the pictures. ;) I hope you’re not mad at me for doing this. You can still see the catheter peeking out in a few photos, so… :)

Since my swimsuit is from 2010, I found some alternatives for you:

  • Hallo Lu,

*insert your most disliked part of your body here* ).

Danke auch für deine Unterstützung!! ♥

      • Oh du bist so hübsch!!! *.*
        LG Conny
