Welcome to “Lu zieht an.”! This blog is all about outfits, make-up and so much more (surprise, surprise!). But it’s also about me. And this is who I am:
It’s time to say goodbye to 2015 and welcome the new year. So here’s the last look we shot in 2015 – and of course, it had to be a dress (2015 was the year of dresses and jumpsuits)! ;)
There’s not much to say – I just want to wish you all a very happy new year, a great new beginning for adventures and all the things you always wanted to try. I can’t wait to continue this journey with you and I’m pretty curious to see which surprises this year has planned for me.
Of course, there will be lots of outfits (and that’s when 2015 is still on)!
So – any New Year’s resolutions? I actually don’t have any. I learned that I like to go with the flow, see what happens and just be open to everything new.
But if you do have plans, let me know, maybe I’ll join you! ;)
“Whoa, that’s heavy!” – my first thought when I received the package. This dress is completely covered in sequins, all-over and multi-layered. If I had to guess, I’d say it probably weighs about 4 kg.
When I first saw the dress in a preview from → Felicity Hayward, I knew I’d do anything to put my hands on it. But it wasn’t available yet and so I spent some time waiting until it finally went online – but my size was sold out. For about five days, I updated the page probably every hour (now that I read it, I sound pretty crazy!) until I finally got it late at night. Just to see it available in the ASOS Curve section (and available in all sizes without any problems) on the same day I finally received it. Talk about timing, huh?
Since this dress is already a huge show-stealer, I went for classic black heels and not many accessories. I decided to create a lilac and purple make-up with falsies just to bring in some color and ended up adding even more color (blocking) with my chartreuse-colored clutch. A bit more interesting than just sticking to the common black stuff – you know, everyone can do that, so why not stand out and be special? ;)
Today, I’ve got another festive look for you. Actually, it’s not only a look for festive occasions but also every day and every party. :) Thanks to → this gorgeous and basic jumpsuit.
I finally found the perfect black overall during Black Friday when it was already reduced and got it with 25% discount (unfortunately, it’s sold out in almost all sizes by now, but I’ve picked out a few other black jumpsuits that look very nice, you can find them below). It was pretty pricey, but totally worth it. Quality, fabric, cut – it’s just perfect and a great addition to my closet. By the way: one of my plans for next year is to sort out my clothes and get rid of a few pieces – I’ll maybe sell a few online and later on a curvy flea market, but of course I’ll announce everything when the time comes! ;)
Back to the actual topic: this could be my Christmas look for this year, or maybe my New Year’s Eve outfit – I don’t know yet. All I know is that I really want to wear this jumpsuit, because I totally love it. And there’s some space left for all the delicious food awaiting me around the holidays. ;)
I chose golden metallic and holographic accessories, my favorite duo from Gucci and after a loooong time, I’m finally wearing these beautiful earrings from ASOS again! Black and gold is very elegant, I think for special occasions it’s even nicer than combining black with silver (I think silver is more “everyday”, you know what I mean?).
I also splurged a bit more on my make-up: light gold, dark gold, extreme falsies and glitter (what’s XMAS and NYE without all the sparkling?). It’s actually a pretty easy look, just make sure that the eye liner is even (I know, there’s the first problem) and the falsies stay put (yeah, second problem – mine tried to leave after shooting in cold wind because my eyes tend to tear pretty fast in this weather… – I definitely need a better glue!). The light gold eye shadow is placed all over the lids and the dark gold only in the crease to give it all more depth, that’s it. Add some nude-rosé lip gloss, maybe even layer some more glitter on top (I’ve got this gorgeous lip gloss from an old Chanel collection, it’s transparent with tiny pink and blue glitter particles and was just perfect here!) and you’re ready to party!
I love surprise packages – especially when there’s something so beautiful inside! :)
Scarlett & Jo, one of my favorite plus-size brands, finally has its own online shop and I’m proud to present one of their gorgeous dresses today. :)
It’s also one of my Christmas outfit ideas – I guess velvet is one of the most Christmassy fabrics ever and red (in this case, it’s a magenta red which sometimes looks more pink or more purple, depending on the light) is also a great color for that special time of the year. :)
This dress is incredibly perfect – the color, the cut (love the fishtail hem!), the sweetheart neckline, the quality,… everything! It’s very formfitting, so I’d recommend wearing some Spanx underneath for a smooth silhouette, but the small ruffles in front conceal your little Christmas roast belly, so no worries. ;)
For my personal touch, I wore it with an old belt from Zara, matching my headband. I felt like a princess during our shoot and to be honest: it’s just that little bit of sparkling that makes the outfit complete. Even though the dress is already beautiful without any extras. ;)
