• Recap & Thoughts | #BeachBodyNotSorry 2016 •

It’s already pretty cold outside but I still want to quickly talk about this year’s #BeachBodyNotSorry project and have a look at the beach outfits I wore this season. I kind of felt that plus-sized beach bodies were more present than ever in 2016. Of course there were a few very important moments like → Ashley Graham on the cover of “Sports Illustrated” or the most recent → “All Woman Project” launched by Clementine Desseaux and Charli Howard (featuring some amazing beach wear by Phylyda – I hope I can work with this brand next year!). But we also had bloggers showing their beach bodies everywhere and it makes me proud to say that I’m a part of this – again.

Unfortunately, this time I couldn’t show as many looks as → last year – on the one hand, there simply was a lack of new beach wear (I just didn’t want to wear everything again, but neither did I want to spend loads of money on new stuff – cause our summer in Germany isn’t long enough to hoard uncountable masses of bikinis and swimsuits), on the other hand, I missed almost 90% of our summer because I was very sick. Even beginning to shoot before the start of the official beach season wasn’t that helpful, so I only managed to do five looks (plus two “covered” beach styles, meaning: one with a kaftan and another one wearing transparent stuff over my bikini).

So let’s recap my #BeachBodyNotSorry looks of 2016…

This is currently my last → #BeachBodyNotSorry post of this year – I have nothing new left to shoot (at the moment, let’s see if this changes!)… I mean, if I lived in a super sunny country with beaches (and coconuts – oh, I miss them!), I’d probably spend all my money on beachwear. But since I live in Germany, in the north, where there isn’t really a long summer and, even though there are beaches, it’s not the same feeling as in Brazil, for example, I don’t want to spend too much money on stuff I wear only once or twice a year. So please forgive me that there’s only four of my beach posts this year – let’s just hope for more next year. ;) Of course, if you’re a beachwear designer and would like to be a part of the #BeachBodyNotSorry project, feel free to write me and we can work out a collaboration, maybe even still for this summer! ;)
Unfortunately, this time, we didn’t have enough time to create a nice video – the sun was already going down when we started to shoot and was gone when we finished our photo shoot. Also, the location wasn’t good enough to create a proper video. But since I don’t want to leave you completely without a video, I’m attaching a very short clip of me sitting in the sand. ;)

Today’s swimsuit is a very special piece. I had actually ordered it last year soon enough before flying to Brazil, but it didn’t arrive – only two and a half months later! Unfortunately, it was too cold back then to shoot it for the project – so I waited and now you can finally see this amazing wrap swimsuit, which you can wrap and tie in so many different ways! This is just one of them but it’s the one that works best for me.
Drip Swimwear offers a wide range of colors (even though many of them are sold out at the moment because there’s a 50% SALE going on) and three different sizes (petite, curvy and plus – I obviously chose plus for my swimsuit, because of my hips). My color, “cocoa”, was part of last year’s Resort Collection, so unfortunately, this one isn’t available anymore, but Drip Swimwear keeps coming up with new styles, so it doesn’t really matter if you miss one particular color. ;)

Another lovely piece to mention in today’s post – my earrings! Kendra is a self-taught jewelry artist and created her “Patina” line by processing the metal with different things like vinegar, ketchup, salt and barbecue sauce (I wonder if the earrings are as tasty as they sound, haha!) to create the stunning blue, green and golden marbled effect which, of course, is sealed to stay like this. I really like the story behind this little piece of art and of course I truly adore these beautiful earrings. Aren’t they gorgeous?

Finally, I want to mention that yes, this swimsuit isn’t the best piece of clothing to actually go swimming. It’s more of a pool party or “just looking good at the beach” piece – and great for a blog editorial. ;)
