After my last → “all black” look, I’ve got something very colorful for you today! This is an outfit which definitely gets the hashtag #visiblebellyoutline and I’m proud to share it just like this. Because nobody should feel ashamed of his or her body. I mean: what’s so wrong about seeing a person’s belly? It’s probaby a strange comparison but I keep asking myself why people go crazy about big preggo bellies but are totally disgusted and get offensive when it’s just fat. Why should I feel less valuable just because you can see that I’m fat? Why should I hide it for others if I’m okay with it, if I like my body and want to show it? So today’s look is yet another (as you’ve already seen me pretty often wearing such tight dresses) scream for freedom. The freedom to wear whatever I want and show whatever I want. The freedom to be able to go outside showing my belly, my bum, my thighs and yes, accept that people are going to stare (because they always do), but don’t let them make me feel ugly.

Fashion should be our very own freedom to invent ourselves new every time we choose our outfits – if we want to. Fashion should always be a fun thing, not a serious struggle to hide ourselves and make ourselves invisible so nobody can insult us and actually hurt us with words and laughter. Fashion is such a great thing because it gives us the power to feel better on a moody day (try some colors instead of black and gray!), it gives us the power to feel confident and professional, the power to feel sexy and desirable, the power to feel like nobody can stop us. And yet fashion is something that can put us down so easily because of what others may say about what we’re wearing, how we look. Yes – fashion is not here to impress and please everyone. Fashion means something else for everyone and we all have a different, even though sometimes very similar, taste. I’m being a bit deep today, but I want to say that fashion can be magical in the right moment, yet we choose to define people based on their looks, which is fine (because it’s something we want others to do when we choose a happy, powerful or sexy outfit, for example) – until this becomes something we use against each other. It’s cool to see someone and get the feeling to know how this person feels today, how this person’s character may be – but we should never forget to look behind it all, to give everyone a second look even if the first look didn’t please us. Fashion is just a disguise we can use for our emotions (yes, I do wear different clothes when I’m sad or happy), but we should never forget that behind all those clothes there’s an actual person who’s got real feelings and a story to tell, so let’s always keep listening. ♥

I actually wanted to name this post “Os quindins de yayá” because the whole look reminds me of one of my favorite childhood movies, “The Three Caballeros”, with Donald Duck, José Carioca and Panchito – there’s a scene where they travel to Bahia and meet Aurora Miranda, Carmen Miranda’s younger sister, and → she sings this song called “Os quindins de yayá” wearing a typical look from Bahia. I think my look is a modern and more minimalistic version of it and that’s where the actual idea for today’s post title came from. But I went for “Level 5” cause that’s where we shot the photos and it’s a bit easier and doesn’t need any explanation. ;)

So, I’m back with another head wrap and a Carmen (Miranda, haha!) top, which I wore with a black maxi skirt for a casual and relaxed summer look. And since I’m currently so in love with → Urban Decay’s “XX Vice LTD Reloaded” palette, I did a very special colorful make-up that’s supposed to match the silk scarf turban. Even though I love natural make-ups (well, only talking about the eyes), I’m having fun doing color bombs at the moment – the palette made me do it and I’m actually very happy about this! Somehow I’m going back to the (blog’s) roots, when everything was more experimental and colorful – even though I’m happy that my fashion style changed a lot. ;)

I’m a huge “American Horror Story” fan – currently watching season 5 (“Hotel” – and Lady Gaga really deserved that Golden Globe for her role as “The Countess”!) and I love it! My favorite season is “Freak Show” and I’m probably the biggest fan of Jessica Lange as Elsa Mars. These days I was actually pretty sad about the death of David Bowie because I fell in love with → Jessica’s performance of “Heroes” – and the song itself –  on the show.
But for this outfit, I chose season 3, “Coven”, the one about the witches, all dressed up in black for important occasions and looking pretty rad. I kind of mixed the style of the series with that of another one called “Scream Queens”, which, to be honest, I’ve not watched yet but seen a few pictures and kind of liked the styling (that’s where the fuzzy jacket of my look came from). :)

So that’s how my “AHS: Coven meets Scream Queens” look was born. I’m wearing a basic flared dress paired with my Chewbacca (let’s bring in a little Star Wars too!) jacket and overknee boots. For that special touch (you already know I like to make all-black looks more special with an extra something), I finally wore a head wrap again (it’s a huge vintage silk scarf from my mother), my red Gucci bag (with a shortened strap) and added shiny silver details – the belt and my favorite sunnies.
Yes, that’s a very extravagant outfit – and that’s why I love it even more. :) Some time ago I read this quote on Insta: “Dress like you’re already famous!” – my motto for 2016 and the future. :) There’s no reason to hesitate about dressing up whenever I feel like it, and it just reinforces my words from 2015 even more: wear whatever you want, whenever you want!

Exploring new little beaches in Hamburg is a lot of fun – especially when you have to climb over a fence (oops!) and down many rocks (wearing flip flops). But sometimes it’s worth it and you’ll find a tiny beach just for you – with nobody disturbing your shooting just before sunset. And only a few minutes before this beach got flooded pretty quickly. You can probably imagine how quickly we climbed back up all the rocks in order to stay dry. ;)

Funny story behind this look: my top is actually a beach towel from when I was little. When we last visited my parents, I had a look at the stuff I had left there and found it – the tie-dye print is way too beautiful (just as the memories!) to leave it unworn and so I came up with the idea to wear it as a crop top, wrapping it around my bust and neck and tadaaa: fits again! ;)
I also wanted to wear a turban again and found another piece I had already forgotten. Isn’t this scarf a perfect match to the top? And to round up that blue look, I put on my blue sunnies and some tiny turquoise earrings. Good to go! Even though I would have worn some sneakers instead of flip flops if I’d known that I’d go climbing. ;) Still there’s nothing better than walking barefoot in the sand and just staying there with your feet in the water, sinking in a little more, wave by wave…
