xmasandnye

#xmasandnye • Yes, I know, it’s already 2016 – but I didn’t really write about my Christmas and New Year’s Eve. So here’s a short recap. My husband and I spent Christmas alone at home (but of course we had already visited our families before at the beginning of December) – I was pretty ill and not very Christmassy, but at least I could taste the delicious food I made (duck breast with dumplings). We watched “Fear the Walking Dead” (yup – not Christmassy) and at the end of the day I even had a small glass of champagne (and I can really recommend the rosé champagne from Nicholas Feuillatte to you guys, it’s delicious!). My Christmas gift (to myself, haha!) was a rose-gold cup set from Nespresso – I’m really becoming a coffee person (finally, huh?)…
On New Year’s Eve, we had our best friends visiting us. We had raclette and lots of fun with those colorful light sticks and I lit up that little star sparkler I got from Studio Untold (thank you, I was a happy kid with it!). :)
And since 2015 was all about me being half-naked, I started the new year wearing traditional red undies. ;) By the way: → here’s my recap of 2015, just in case. ;)

curvyberlin

#curvyberlin • The first Curvy fair of the year was held last week (the next one is in summer, probably in July). It’s back in the old and very first building (which always was the best one of them all and is located very centrally in the city). To be honest, I don’t really enjoy the fair anymore, it’s become pretty boring and since most of the real fashion brands are continuously leaving (like Carmakoma and now even Zizzi, who at least held a very lovely blogger event on Tuesday in a hotel nearby, where we had the chance to see the upcoming F/W collection), for me, it’s not that interesting anymore. Also, when the fair started three years ago, brands seemed to be more interested in inviting bloggers for special presentations and small events during the fair – it’s very sad to see that this interest is totally gone now. Another point which leaves me very disappointed every time is the styles – around 80% of the clothes are exactly what I don’t want to see in stores. It’s that stuff I described in → this post. Horrible cuts, only dark colors or those who look like straight out of the toilet, animal prints made of rhinestones, looks for old women (even though I’m pretty sure not even my grandma would wear them), and when you finally find something that’s really stylish and modern, brands tell you that they probably won’t sell it to retailers because they won’t sell it to their customers. So you get that preview of amazing stuff which you’ll probably never even have the chance to buy – and this makes me really sad. Because there is potential. There are modern clothes. But just because the majority of fat customers don’t believe in themselves and prefer to buy those colorless sacks, retailers won’t order them and people will never see what’s possible. Can you understand why I’m frustrated? Another thing – but this is not meant as criticism! – is that it’s always hard to have to wait for so long, since the pieces will only be in stores around 7-9 months later. But that’s a blogger thing – if I see something cool, I want to wear it right now. Maybe if the brands at the fair would start working with bloggers again, we could shorten the waiting time by posting previews when the clothes are almost available. And anyway, we could promote the stuff that people should finally get to see! If we want a change, we have to start showing what’s possible. Not only the bloggers but also the media – but that’s another step. Let’s hope that it gets better next time. At least meeting all the nice people is always the best reason to go there, networking with other bloggers and the few brands who appreciate bloggers and their work.
By the way: my favorites at the fair were Olivier Wartowski (the best collection of the whole fair!), mable and the upcoming Anna Scholz for sheego collection.
(And of course, the food – because when I’m in Berlin, I always have to visit my favorite sushi restaurant, “Nordbahnhof – Two Buddhas”.)

outfitpreview

#outfitpreview • Just a tiny preview of some looks to be blogged. :)

scarlettandjolondon

#scarlettandjolondon • I finally visited London again – this time with Scarlett & Jo. We shot the upcoming collections at the amazing Home House (I’ll post something about that great location soon!). We means: three ambassadors (Ana, Laura and me) and six bloggers/models – you can see us all in the picture in the middle: Mayah, Ana, Hattie, me, Kemisha, Laura, Pippa, Cerise and Sarah.
The shooting on Saturday was hard work but absolutely amazing – I can’t wait to see the results and share them with you. You can also read about it on → Scarlett & Jo’s blog. :)
Since the suites at Home House were already booked for our shootings, Ana and I (we were the two girls coming from outside of the UK) had the pleasure to spend two nights in them and all I can say is that I’m speechless. ;) This place was incredible!
I also finally met my big love again – the Hoisin Duck Wrap from Pret-a-Manger. If you haven’t tried it yet, you should as soon as you can! I’m obsessed with it!
On Sunday, I stopped by my favorite fancy hat store → Bernstock Speirs and got myself a new stylish hat. I also got to see the S&J office and was amazed by the view: you can see Borough Market, the London Eye, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Shard and Tower Bridge. A 360° view of the wonderful city of London. Can I please move in? It’s like a giant walk-in wardrobe with a view! Who’d say no to that? :) I hope I’ll be back soon and I’m looking forward to working even more with this amazing brand and those lovely people (special shoutout to → Hanna, my Finnish ystävä, she’s a sweetheart!).

random

#random • This cup deserves to be mentioned – as a real girl boss, this was the best Christmas gift ever. Thank you, sheego! The cup is from Urban Outfitters, maybe you can still get it at your nearest store, since I couldn’t find it online – sorry!
I already told you about my lucky shoe SALE finds – Céline boots that originally cost around €1200 for only €191 (crazy, right?), finally a pair of Valentino Rockstuds with 30% off and the most amazing second-hand (almost unworn) buy: Casadei ankle boots (around 60% off the original price). :) Happy me.
The last picture is a snapshot from my → #bodypositive resolutions shoot, I really love this shirt and I’m going to try to do a normal outfit with it. Stay tuned!

#favorites • I want to start today’s Random Picture post with my three favorites: head wraps, sunglasses and bright lipsticks. And yes, all three still work in winter! You can always rock your favorites (in my case, let’s call them obsessions), without restrictions! Like: there can always be a bad hair day = head wrap (even though it looks great on a good hair day too!). Or: no sunshine but this bright light outside because of the white clouds or snow = sunglasses (even though nobody needs an excuse to wear stylish shades!). And: bright lipstick, just because. It’s always a great choice! ;)

#kittykitty • Your daily dose of Rico (by the way: we always call him “Spucki”, and none of us knows why). Being the best doctor on the left (I was very sick a few weeks ago…), playing Rose from Titanic in the middle (“Draw me like one of your French girls cats!”), and demonstrating the “cat vs box” phenomenon (“If I fits, I sits!”).

#event • Unfortunately, I missed a few events because I was sick, but there was this beautiful winter wonderland by and with Biotherm. It already felt like Christmas, we got to know the novelties, had a delicious buffet and had the chance to work with a paper artist and handcraft our own little snow flake (using a scalpel, I was scared as hell, since I’ve never been that great at handcrafts, since kindergarten… haha, I can’t even fold something symmetrically! Gosh, that’s embarrassing…). It was good to see some lovely blogger colleagues, like Anna and Lina, and get to know new people, like Swantje and Linda. I’m sorry that I don’t remember the whole list of bloggers, but I can tell you: it was a very nice afternoon and we had lots of fun!

#fanart • Isn’t that amazing? @mia_media made this incredible drawing of me and I’m absolutely speechless – she’s so talented! Go and give her a like on Instagram! :)

#foodie • I’ve got two new delicious places for you: Käppchen Kuchen Company in Eppendorf (Eppendorfer Weg 99) and Grilled Cheese Wonderland (former “Luncheonette”), currently at Marktzeit in the “Fabrik” in Altona (Barnerstraße 36) every Saturday, hopefully soon driving around in their food truck and making everyone happy with their grilled cheese treats! I think I don’t need to say more. ;)
I found the cupcake store “by accident” and was amazed to hear that they’re the first cupcake store ever in Europe, since 2006. And they’re VERY good. Too bad they aren’t located around the corner for me, but I hope I can get back there soon!

#outfitpreview • Of course, here’s a sneak peek of some of my upcoming outfits. As always, we’ve been very busy shooting and I’ll present some XMAS and NYE outfits to you (like the two outfits below), since there’s still enough time to get inspired and shop. :)

DEBR

#outfitpreview • Let’s start this Random Picture post with a few of my upcoming looks. We’ve been two busy bees shooting our way through Hamburg and preparing some fall looks for you. There’s lots to come and I’m happy that the weather is letting us take some usable pictures. ;) Soon, it will be too rainy, too windy, too dark and too “I don’t want to go outside!” – oh, fall/winter season, you’re every blogger’s worst enemy (if only the background weren’t that beautiful with either lots of colorful leaves or shiny white snow…)!

#shoppingtime • Talking about outfits, I’ve got this little shopping tip for you – remember this beautiful pink and purple pixel coat from last year? It’s available again, but this year in two different styles and three different colors (unfortunately not pink – but I really like the gray version!). Get them both → here with a belt or click → here for the open oversized version.

#foodie • I had this utterly delicious Teriyaki Salmon at “Yoshi” in the “Alsterhaus” here in Hamburg and it was SO good that I can’t wait to get another one. The fish was absolutely on point, the sauce was creamy and intense and the vegetables were fresh and crunchy. Only some side dish, like rice, was missing. Anyways: also try the fried salmon skin, it’s yummy! :)

#beachyouttakes • Gosh, I miss the beach. And at the same time, I’m still laughing about the bitchy (or rather beachy!) waves who kept attacking me (mainly from behind and unexpectedly) and are responsible for these funny outtake pictures. Whether I was just posing for a nice picture with my jumpsuit or trying not to be washed away in my bikini, there was always that one (ice-cold!) wave that left me completely soaked – and laughing. Wanna go back!

#BeachBodyNotSorry…Again • After 2.5 months, my Drip Swimwear swimsuit finally arrived. It was actually supposed to come with me to Brazil, but somehow the postal service managed to commit a major fail. Sent from LA on August 12, processed on September 18 here in Hamburg at customs, it finally arrived at my home on October 27. Now it’s way too cold to take some pictures at our German beaches, that’s why I just got two snapshots for you. This swimsuit is so cool – you can wrap and knot it in many ways and that’s just one of them. Guess we’ll find out next summer how many I can do. ;) Plus, that’s my new haircut – very short now. My hair was dead after Brazil and had to be chopped off. But I actually love it like this! :)

#nocaptionneeded • …and actually no more words, either. ;) Just love – for this beautiful sunset, the wonderful day I spent before I saw this and everyone who’s reading this. ♥

#truewords • A few quotes that I reposted…
The first one is all about my work: it’s not about promoting obesity or an unhealthy lifestyle or saying that being fat is the best thing in the world – it’s about promoting to love yourself. Love yourself so much that you’re not afraid of showing it. And with that I want to inspire you to give “real” fashion a try, to be creative and play around with clothes and different styles! Don’t give up and be an inspiration for others too! And if I did this all for only one person who’s changed their mind, I’ve totally reached my goal! :)
The second one is actually a very sad truth, but believe me: it’s absolutely worth it. Being yourself is the best freedom ever and there’s no need to be like anyone else, even though they’re great too. But for everyone that you think might have a better life and be happier than you, there is someone who thinks exactly the same about you. Think about it! ;)
The third one is a little rant, yes – but to be honest, this is something that keeps frustrating me about my work as a blogger. Sure, not everyone treats me like that, but: how often do I receive e-mails from potential business partners who “found my blog and love it” and want to work with me. But when I tell them what my work is worth, they “don’t have any budget”, “are a start-up company” or just don’t answer anymore.
I’m not a little girl in front of a PC playing around with “Paint”. I may have started my work as a blogger from nothing, but it’s my job. I do not only spend passion and love on it, but also time, hard work and money. I really wish that people would appreciate that.

#helloberlin • I spent a great evening with Urban Decay in Berlin for their launch of the NAKED Smoky palette (find my review → here) and checked in at the Hotel de Rome (thinking about a tiny little review of the room – is that something you’d be interested in? Usually, it’s only one stay with events…). I’m normally not someone who calls for the room service, but this Club Sandwich (sooooo good!) was much needed after a loooong day without enough food (all brands should consider making plus-size versions of their snacks at events because they’re delicious but way too small! ;)).

11807380_10153618938779131_4088807966259057096_o11864994_10153656811479131_8025693146357220300_o11893960_10153658564599131_672807710590011318_o

#outfitpreview • I’m almost done with my → #BeachBodyNotSorry posts (still got two looks to shoot and two to post, so…), so today I’ve got a little preview of two “normal” outfits for you. The left one is for persona by Marina Rinaldi who sent me this beautiful shirt which I combined with my good old petticoat skirt, the one in the middle is probably my favorite outfit of the year – a mixture of casual and sexy thanks to H&M+ and Agent Provocateur ;), and the right one is one of six looks that I’m currently shooting for the latest Anna Scholz x sheego collection – you’ll soon get to see my very own lookbook on our blogs!

#happymakers • I’m not asking for much: little black boxes and what’s inside (especially when it fits!) make me very happy, sushi from my favorite sushi man back home does not only stuff me but also makes me smile, and a cold shower is everything – at the moment, summer in Germany is hot, sticky and sweaty – is there anyone who’d like to buy me a huge rain shower? :)

#welovehh • Isn’t this one of the most beautiful views you’ve ever seen? :)
