Last Saturday, I went to the → Murek Hamburg headquarters for a great blogger event. The brand presented its current summer collection and a preview of the upcoming winter collection, and we had the chance to create our own styles with the summer pieces. We also got the chance to pre-order our favorites of the winter collection and we probably all fell in love with one special jacket, so keep your eyes open around August – you’ll see it a lot and (I’m pretty sure about this) many different styles with it!

Murek Hamburg is a German brand for occasional wear based in Hamburg. They’re already over 60 years old – which means they’re really experienced in their niche and they really know about fit. Since they’re already established around the world, especially in the Arabian region and Belgium, they now want to get known better here in Germany – and we bloggers want to help, because even though there are a few pieces that are definitely a bit old-fashioned (and have too many rhinestones on them – but here’s something cool: you can order everything without them if you don’t like these little stones!), this brand has potential. And their speciality is plus size because their best-selling sizes are EU48-50 (their sizes go up to 56). So they know what they’re talking about if it’s about plus-size occasional wear. ;)
I think we gave them some good ideas on how to improve the modern style of the brand and I’m pretty sure we’ll see a lot of Murek’s great fashion in the future (of course also up here on the blog because I can’t wait to style my three pieces of the winter collection)!

In order to show what amazing styles you can do with their clothes – not only for special occasions but also day wear – we had a great shoot and I want to share all looks with you. :)

“You’re not fat, you’re beautiful!”

I very often read this and it is probably one of the comments that hurt fat people the most, even though its intention is to make someone happy and feel good. And even though at first it doesn’t even sound so bad, if you think about it, it’s not as nice as you might think.

You’re beautiful. Period.

Unfortunately, our society is still not open-minded enough to understand that “fat” doesn’t equal bad or ugly while “skinny” is the synonym for beauty and everything positive.
Being fat implies that at least one thing about you is negative – your body. And because of that you can’t be beautiful in the eyes of our society. Why’s that? This is completely wrong!

You can be skinny and beautiful and you can be fat and beautiful. There is no right and wrong.

But then again, there are those people who like to say: “If you just lost a few pounds, you’d be gorgeous!” – oh really? If you used your brain, you might be able to say something more intelligent!
If people think that I’m beautiful, why would they recommend that I lose weight to be “perfect” in their eyes? Just because I don’t fit in their manipulated idea of beauty, I don’t have to change for them. It’s them who need to change – to open their minds and start accepting diversity, other forms of beauty and that we don’t have to fulfill the beauty standards of our stupid society.

Please stop these insulting compliments! Because it’s not nice to tell someone that his or her beauty depends on their body shape – and your opinion about it.

“Stop calling yourself fat!”

Why should I? I’ve accepted my body and I’ve accepted that I am fat. Because I am fat. I am overweight and I wear an average size 44. There’s nothing wrong about it – as long as I am healthy and feel good, as long as I accept myself like this. And if I don’t, I should change something about it. May it be weight loss or a change of my look, my clothes, my hairstyle – everything is possible to make myself feel better.

It’s not about someone else telling me what I should think about myself or what I should call myself, even though telling me that I’m not fat is supposed to cheer me up. And it’s also not the right compliment to tell me that I’ve lost weight or look skinnier – it just feels like it because in our society, being thin is the ultimate and if you’ve achieved the goal of being skinny, people will be amazed by your “power” and “strength” and “discipline” – because fat people are non of this, they don’t have power, aren’t strong and discipline’s not part of their vocabulary. Oh hell!
Let’s start complimenting people by telling them how great they are, how amazing their characters are – not their bodies. Of course it’s right to compliment someone by telling them that you can see the change when someone’s working hard to feel better, but “you lost weight – you look great!” isn’t the best way to do so. It will continue to brainwash us all to think that being fat is the worst thing you can be.

I am fat.
AND beautiful.
AND happy.
AND sexy.
AND successful.
AND funny.
AND strong.
AND proud.
(AND SO MUCH MORE.)

Actually, today’s “One Night in…” is a ‘two nights’ post, since I had the pleasure to stay for two nights at → Home House in London. And I’m very thankful for that – because this is a magical place!

Home House is a private member’s club, actually consists of three houses (n° 19 to 21) and is not only a club with many amazing lounges and bars, two restaurants and much more, but also has a few incredible rooms, including three suites that were all booked for our shooting with → Scarlett & Jo last weekend. Since the suites were already booked as “studios” for Saturday, it would have been pretty stupid not to let someone sleep in them, right? That’s why S&J let us, → Ana and me, spend two nights in them. My little kingdom for these days was the → “George Hanbury” suite and I couldn’t have been more pleased with it – it’s the perfect mixture of 18th century chic and modern luxury (TV in the bathroom – I had a great time taking a hot bath on Saturday before going to bed!), all covered in a dark mint, turquoise and golden color concept with lovely details (like the wallpaper and the lamps).

I can’t even say how royal (Queen who?) I felt in my 55m² paradise, how great I slept in the world’s comfiest king-size bed (I even had an extra nap on Sunday after an intense Saturday!) and how happy I was with the delightful room service, which spoiled me with some late dinner on Saturday and a delicious breakfast on Sunday.
I really didn’t want to leave (even with the late checkout at 2pm, having to go was hard!) and enjoyed every minute of my stay. Thanks a lot to the lovely team of Scarlett & Jo, especially Gifi and → Hanna, who made me feel at home and like a part of their family and made these three days just amazing and unforgettable and the perfect start of our collaboration – I’m very happy to be your ambassador!

Drumrolls, please! The collection I shot in Brazil with → Chica Bolacha is finally online and available from today! It’s incredible to see the results, I’m more than happy and unspeakably proud to be the face of such a gorgeous collection. Being a professional model for one day was an amazing experience, especially because I’d normally never have the tiniest chance to be a model, since I’m only 5’3” short. It’s a huge honor to be chosen for such great work and I’m pretty antsy to show you all the pictures and – OMG! – a video! It’s been on replay since I got it a few weeks ago – I love it so, so much, even though hearing myself speak Portuguese is extremely weird (totally cool, though!). I love every outfit, each skirt and top, the places we chose as backgrounds, the music, you know: everything. :)

I’m so thankful for all the beautiful things I get to see and do thanks to blogging, thanks to something I really love doing and dedicate all my heart to. I’m thankful for everyone who believes in me – not only my family and friends, but also you, my dear readers, and all the people who work with me because they love my work and appreciate it. My special thanks today, of course, goes out to the lovely team from Chica Bolacha – it was great to be your dress-up doll, to spend the day with you and laugh so, so much. Thank you for choosing me as your model, flying me to São Paulo and making me look so beautiful in your clothes (by the way: it’s a purely Brazilian production, from the first sketches to the final product!)! ♥ Thank you for the love!

Of course, another special thank you goes out to → Adriana Libini, the photographer – who took these amazing pictures! – and the team that created such a great video! :)

Okay – let’s go! :)
