So here we are again – the last look of 2016! Of course, the outfit for New Year’s Eve has to be a super sparkling one – so it’s either my → glitter all over look or this one, which is kind of the same because the dress is made of the same fabric as the shirt, but of course it’s totally different. ;)

For my New Year’s Eve look I’m wearing a → wonderful dress from Scarlett & Jo and I love it so much because of the colors: navy blue and rosé gold glitter! What a great combo! It’s just not that easy to see in the pictures (especially because the light outside has been horribly bad for taking pictures…). If you’re not that much of an experimental girl, you can also go for the classic options black & silver (like my shirt) or “Black Sky” (black with blue glitter). Every color is amazing! And it’s on sale! ;) I’m wearing my usual UK size 16.

I actually wanted to go for beige heels but decided that black would be a better idea so I could add a clutch. My accessory choice is pretty basic, but that’s why I went for matching rosé gold earrings and a dramatic make-up plus some kind of vintage hairdo (it’s not easy to style my hair at the moment since this is a bad interim hairstyle, but let’s just wait and see what happens next…).

Well, this is my last post for 2016 and I wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR! See you in 2017 in a few days! :)

• Private XII | (Don’t) #droptheplus •
Why I think that #droptheplus is a bad idea…
…at the moment.
(and other hashtag ideas we should use instead)

We’ve worked so hard to make plus size socially acceptable (and we’re still not done with it!). The last two years have been a major success for fat people, not only women but also men. And yet people keep using the hashtag #droptheplus, asking everybody to stop saying or using the term “plus size” – as if it were a bad thing!

Let’s not lie – fat isn’t the same as skinny (duh!). And it will still take a long time for everybody to understand that even though we don’t all look the same (especially when it comes to our body shapes), all (sizes) are equal. Of equal value and equally beautiful.

#dropthenegativity • #mybodyismyfriend

It isn’t wrong to use a special term to describe plus people, as long as we don’t make it a negative one. So:  #dropthenegativity!

Mankind has always liked and will forever continue to describe things, that’s why we have such describing adjectives as skinny and fat, but also tall and short, blonde and brown-haired, green-eyed and blue-eyed,… and usually, these adjectives are used in a neutral or even positive way. It’s never bad to be a tall, skinny, blonde and blue-eyed girl. Or being a short, skinny, brown-haired girl with green eyes. The only bad thing a girl (and also a boy) can be is fat. Fat is ugly. Fat is negative. You could even start to cross out “fat” in the dictionary and replace it with “ugly” – nobody would even care. Just that you wouldn’t have a specific word left to really hurt somebody. “You’re fat!” – it’s not “you’re resentful, envious, deceptive or intrigant” that’s bad. You’re only disgusting when you’re fat.

Why do we always see our body as our enemy? It’s a gift, a miracle – and it is our friend!

#proudofbeingme • #dropthestupideuphemisms

And yes, I do understand that maybe, by dropping the plus, the fat, the ugly, we’ll be able to make fat the same as skinny. But still – even if we don’t mention the difference, it will still be there, you can see it and people will notice it and – at least in their heads – make up their minds about it. If they don’t think about you with the word “plus size”, they’ll probably do it with the word “fat” or “curvy” (or one of those horribly ridiculous words for fat women like “fluffy” or “queen-sized” – please just stop using them, they’re embarrassing!). And that’s okay. Because we don’t look the same. And this is something we should be proud of. Proud of diversity. Proud of us being individuals and not copies.

#curvysexa-fuckoff
(well, maybe don’t use this as a hashtag…)

I’m more than disappointed when I see people use the hashtag #droptheplus, especially when it comes from plus people themselves. We even have plus-size role models and pioneers like Ashley Graham saying that they don’t want to be called plus. And this makes me angry. Because people like Ashley are not only changing the world as a plus model (!) but also making money out of it. Ashley isn’t known for being one of the regular models on the cover of “Sports Illustrated” – she was the first plus-sized model to be there. She’s being paid and is known for being plus and being amazing just like that – and yet she prefers being called a stupid and ridiculous word like “cuvysexalicious” – because being sexualized due to your curves seems to be better than being called fat (well… – but we could be at a point where especially thanks to her we could turn “fat” and “plus size” into something positive!).

#fatisnotevil

Dropping the plus would be the same as ignoring who we are. Because we need to claim back the words fat and plus size and make them as neutral and positive as all those other describing adjectives – because being fat is nothing else but the same as all the other body types. As long as we feel good being ourselves like that.

There may come a day when the world is ready to stop describing and dividing in categories, but until then, let’s just stop being so superficial. Let’s be fat and skinny, tall and short, blonde and brown-haired, blue-eyed and green-eyed – and show everyone that this is just the surface of endless adjectives that make us wonderful, amazing and beautiful. Because we’re more than just our bodies.

After my vintagey and super elegant Christmas look, which is the perfect choice for an opulent and glamorous party, today’s look is a bit more modern yet sophisticated and I guess if I were going to a party, this is what I’d wear. But since we already celebrated Christmas with our families at home earlier this month, tomorrow I’ll be spending a cozy and cuddly evening with my husband on the sofa – I’ll cook a nice dinner and we’ll watch a movie. And yeah – this look would be way too overdressed for it! ;)

You may remember → the stunning dress I wore at the Marina Rinaldi event at the styling session. Unfortunately, it wasn’t available anymore, but this skirt is a perfect substitute! Black and gold is such an amazing classic and still always a modern choice – depending on how you style it. I wanted it to be a young and fresh look and that’s why I went for the following accessories: The belt – the elastic band with the patent and black silver front (mixing gold and silver isn’t a taboo anymore!) dresses it all down a little bit, makes it look cool and a bit more casual. The sandals – flats aren’t the obvious choice but definitely comfy enough and a great choice if they’re as embellished as mine. Flats don’t always mean casual! The earrings – these are probably the most important part of my accessory choice because they are kind of unexpected since the bamboo hoop style is a bit more hip hop than Christmas – but they’re also embellished with tiny little golden pearls, so here we are, back at the sophisticated style. ;) You see – I’m a fan, haha! :)

Well, for now, I want to wish you all lovely holidays – whether you celebrate Christmas or not or some other holidays, I hope you spend your time with all your loved ones, happy and cozy and with loads of delicious food! Always remember: Christmas isn’t about the presents (even if they’re the best extra!) – it’s about love and we should never forget that love is the most important thing in this world – we need it. Especially these days. ♥

It’s Christmas week! :) Today and on Friday, I’ll show you my last two looks for Christmas and hopefully inspire you to find your own style for the holidays!

Today’s outfit is all about that vintage flair – with an actual vintage piece I got from my mother – it’s the beaded collar! Instead of wearing a necklace or other statement jewelry, I decided to go for something completely different and I must say that this is the best idea I’ve ever had because the whole look is so special – just because of this detail! Of course, this dress is already an absolute stunner for all festive occasions and actually doesn’t need any accessories (just have a look at the → dress in the online store – and if you order today, with a little bit of luck you can still get the dress or another S&J piece in time for Christmas [but no guarantee from my side]! And P.S.: next Monday, I’ll show you the perfect dress for New Year’s Eve! ;)).

As it is pretty cold outside, I wanted to add a second collar. You’ve already seen this fake fur collar a few times up here and I always find a different way to wear it (you can see the other styles at the end of this post!) – this time, it looks like an open bolero jacket. :) It also rounds up that glamorous touch of the whole look.

By the way (and you’ll definitely notice it when you’re watching the video ;)): → these shoes are too large for my little feet, but they are so great ’cause they have the same color as the dress (well, almost, 99%!), so I wore them for this shoot but I just can’t walk in them properly, so I was thinking about giving them to someone who’ll be able to wear them. They’re a EU37 but they fit more like a 38 or even 39 (and I’m usually a 37.5). So if you fell in love with them, please leave a comment (and don’t forget to type in your e-mail address in the corresponding field or comment with your actual FB account so I can write you) – first come, first serve, and you’ll only have to pay for your preferred shipping. :)
