I got this wonderful dress for my birthday – isn’t it amazing? Even though I’ve been wearing a lot of pants recently, my heart’s still beating for dresses, especially floral ones. ;) And hats! That’s probably one of the good things up here where I’m right now: it’s not as windy as in Hamburg, which makes it easier to wear hats without living in fear of losing them thanks to half a storm outside. :) But I still miss the wind, a lot.

I’ve been in Hamburg from last Thursday until Monday and even though the wind is kind of annoying, you can actually miss it. Sitting at the harbor and letting it ruin your hairdo is probably one of the best feelings in the world. ♥ I’ll tell you more about my little Hamburg trip in my next recap of the month, so stay tuned for some Hamburg melancholia. ;)

Sometimes, it has to be “too much” just in order to be on point. :) It all started with the skirt, two years ago at the Plus Size Fashion Days where I first saw it. There was actually a matching sweater available but it didn’t look good on me, so I kept looking for something to match. First, I ended up with → this look, but then I found the shirt I’m wearing here. And in December, I found the perfect headband to complete my “all glitter” style. And even though people like to say “less is more”, I’m pretty sure they all forgot how cool it is to wear such a look. I mean, yes, it’s a lot of glitter and I’m usually not that girly but somehow, I don’t think that this is a too girly look. And even if it looked too girly: so what? ;)

I know the different shades of pink are not exactly the same but to be honest, I think that this is what makes the look even more interesting. Plus those accents in black which give an edgy finish.

Green is my favorite color – and I truly love khaki green, it’s the shade of green that fascinates me the most. Of course, I was instantly in love when I saw that Anna Scholz created a → khaki green lace dress for the new collection in collaboration with sheego and I knew that it was going to be one of the three pieces I’d choose for → my lookbook.

Not only is this dress super comfy because of the very soft fabric but it’s also easy to wear in different styles. You can wear it casually with espadrilles and a denim jacket, for example, or style it more elegantly with high heels and some statement jewelry.

I’ve decided to go for a modern but chic look and therefore did some expected and also some unexpected accessorizing. First, the shoes – I guess, black is always the safe choice, but I kinda felt like it would be a bit too dark since the dress already has a black base and I wanted to loosen it all up. That’s why I went for beige. And then, there’s the belt – of course, the dress looks nice without it, but I went for a size up (46 instead of 44 like with most of the Anna Scholz for sheego dresses) and that’s why the waistline was a bit too loose and also too low for my body shape. Nothing a belt can’t fix. ;) And I love accentuating my waist, so it was kind of obvious that I’d go for a belt.

As you can see, the first outfit post of the year is a very special one! Today marks the 8th birthday of this blog and I’m more than proud of this! It’s incredible how many amazing things happened in all these years – just because of my little space on the Internet. I’ve not only been present online but also in magazines, on the radio and on TV – and I’m so happy to be able to share my #bodypositivity message with the world: everyBODY is beautiful.

Of course, this has been kind of a journey for myself too because I hadn’t started the blog with this message, even though I’ve never had a problem with me and my body and it would have been a great idea to make this the main topic of the blog right from the beginning. Every time I’m asked when and why I started blogging, I answer the same: “There was no intention, I was sick in bed that day and kind of bored. I had already been blogging for two years and found out that there were also blogs (not only diary blogs) about certain topics – so I found the first fashion blogs and wanted to do one myself and decided to share my outfits with the world.”

Never ever would I have thought that this day in bed would bring me so much joy (yeah, and also some pretty frustrating days – but we already talked about this), so many amazing experiences and – of course: you! It’s incredible how many you are, from all around the globe. And I’m so thankful to be able to reach you, to sometimes even change your world. Receiving your messages, not only the comments but also e-mails and even letters, is overwhelming. Reading that you tried on a dress for the first time (or for the first time in years) or that you finally went to the beach wearing a bikini and had fun instead of fear or that you saw that it’s okay to love yourself “even though” (I don’t really like to say it because it seems like it’s not okay, but it is!) you’re fat and everyone else tells you it’s not – I have no words to tell you how great that feels. How happy it makes me to have such a positive impact on your lives. To be a role model. I’m proud and that’s why I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. ♥

If there’s one wish I have (without the huge birthday cake and blowing out the candles) and may tell you: please continue to write me. I love your feedback, I love knowing that I’m being read and heard. Blogging is not a one-way thing, it’s all about interaction and being a community. So please: whenever you feel the need to say something – just do it and leave a comment or write me an e-mail or letter. I promise that I’ll always try my best to answer. I must confess that I don’t answer every comment on Facebook and Instagram (sorry about that, but everyone asking me obvious things like “where’s the dress from?” even if it’s already tagged in the picture just has to have a look up here!), but since the blog is my actual number one, here’s where you can tell me everything and count on a reply.

P.S.: I’m a bad giveaway maker, but since this is a very special occasion and it is the first time after 8 years that I really remembered the date (gosh, I’m so bad with dates and birthdays, it’s a shame…) – don’t worry, of course there’ll be a little blogiversary giveaway. Promise!
