Visiting a fashion event means: you want to look special. ;) Well, at least as far as I’m concerned. Good to know that I’ve got this special talent: finding cool stuff totally last minute. ;)
It has become kind of a ritual to rummage in the “Gold Label” section at TK Maxx (yes, this is another story of a great find there!). It’s not as regularly updated as the normal clothing sections, but from time to time there are some highlights. And just like with the last dress (remember my → See by Chloé dream dress? Leopard coincidence, haha!), I picked out another beauty. This time, it’s from Diane von Furstenberg (again, and still not a wrap dress) and a real gem. I mean: look at the colors, look at the great cut of this dress! I know we’ve got some major #visiblebellyoutline up there, but who cares (I don’t!)? This is a tight dress, it shows exactly what I got and: I l-o-v-e it. Best splash of color on a hot day (and believe me – I was melting until I put my feet into this deliciously refreshing water! I actually wanted to forget my plans for the day and get naked for a little swim, but don’t tell anyone!). I love this dress so much that I even got crazy and bought another one in the mytheresa SALE, with a → black-and-white print. Can’t wait to receive my package (I really hope it fits – it’s a different fabric, silk-jersey, while this one is pure jersey)!

Anyways, let’s talk about this beautiful little beach we found right after meeting Givenchy and Kenzo on a freakin’ cool house boat. Problem is: I want both now. I fell in love with the idea of waking up in this beautiful bedroom (have a look → here!), opening on of the French doors and jumping (naked, haha!) into the water for a little swim. Then coming back and spending the day at this tiny beach, drinking cocktails and just feeling good. Anyone up to fulfilling my dreams?

Not much time ago, there was this scandal about Oprah Magazine talking about crop tops and saying that you should feel free to try them “if (and only if!) you’ve got a flat stomach”. It caused a major shitstorm and made many – especially plus-sized – girls post pictures of them wearing crop tops with the hashtags #rockthecrop #pullingofacroptop #ifandonlyifiwantto. I joined this movement on → Instagram (and → Facebook) because I think that it’s not okay to tell someone what he or she is allowed to wear. That’s arrogant in many ways and not the right way for a magazine to give tips on how to dress.

I’m not willing to dress for anyone, especially not for total strangers. I dress for myself, wear what I like in this exact moment. And if that’s a crop top, I’ll wear it. Just like in this post today. I’m not wearing it to say: “Hey, I’m fat and I’m wearing a crop top!”, it has nothing to do with being a rebel. The thing is: I saw this top online, fell in love with the colors and the design and had to get it.
I enjoyed wearing it and while we were shooting the pictures – in front of many people – no one looked at me and had to throw up or told me that I was disgusting. No one came up to me and said that I should only wear a crop top with a flat tummy. No one was horrified and ran away.

What I want to say: when you wear what you want and add the right attitude (feel good!), nobody will ruin your day. Of course there might be some people looking at you, but always remember: some might be surprised, maybe because they don’t see fat people wearing such beautiful clothes that often (sadly!), maybe because they think you’re gorgeous, maybe because they wish they weren’t afraid of doing the same. Sure, some will look and shake their heads, giving you that evil look and making you feel like you’re a major piece of shit, but do you really want to take these strangers seriously? Will you let them tell you what you’re allowed to wear? Do you really want to depend on their opinion? Choose your daily look according to their wishes? Do you really want to dress yourself for a stranger? I’m sure the answer is: no.
You don’t have to wear a crop top, you don’t have to prove to anyone that you can rock a crop top. If you don’t like them, nobody’s forcing you to wear them. Just wear whatever you want, but please don’t listen to such bullshit tips that tell you how to dress – you’ve got your own mind, use it and be creative! :)

ENTalking about my new friendship with sneakers – this is definitely the second pair of very special kicks that made me fall in love with them. I’ve already posted an → “all black” outfit with my neon Superstars which made them stand out alone, but this time I tried to integrate them into a colorful look. Of course it had to be something different but still me, so I went for a floral bustier, my beloved denim joggers and – still my favorite companion – a hat. :)

I really like to get out of my comfort zone from time to time, even though sometimes this means that an outfit isn’t very flattering or makes people stare at me because they’re not used to – let’s just say it – fat people wearing something that they’re “not supposed to wear”. Fashion is about having fun, trying new stuff, new shapes and colors, sometimes following a new trend, sometimes standing against it and creating your own look. It’s not about following the so-called rules, living in a box and really believing that you’re not allowed to be wearing a piece that you’d actually really love to wear. Being fat doesn’t mean wrapping yourself up in a preferably black blanket in order to please people who don’t want to see you feeling good in your own skin. Being fat is as great and as allowed to be seen in public as being skinny.
Well, that escalated a little – I actually just wanted to say: from time to time, try something else than your “daily uniform”, you might feel just as great in it as I felt in this absolutely unusual look for me. It was comfy, colorful and still had my very own touch thanks to the hat and the make-up. ;)

ENMy obsession with head wraps continues and this time I tried another wrap technique with a huge bow in the front. Plus, we’re back with another jumpsuit. It’s actually my favorite and I’ve already styled it in so many ways but never like this – the turban adds an exotic touch to the comfy outfit (skip the heels for a shopping trip or a day at the beach!) and there’s yet another special piece: the bag. And yes, it’s really made of pull tabs, colored and hand-sewn in Brazil. I bought it in 2012 when I last visited my family there and spent an afternoon at the Feira Hippie in Ipanema – a great little marketplace for anything handmade, from clothing to interior decoration. If you’re ever there, you should have a look!
