Okay, so step by step I want to bring back the beauty topics – they’re still very important to me, but somehow I just haven’t wanted to write so much about them for a long time. One reason probably was the feedback (even before the comments were disabled) – I spent a lot of time writing my reviews and nothing came back (I wasn’t sure if you really liked the posts or if you were interested in them at all). Also, of course it’s nice to get all those free PR samples and try new things constantly (and I’m absolutely thankful for these possibilities!), but that’s all – the work (and believe me – you can ask any good beauty blogger – it’s not only about receiving something for free, trying it once and writing how cool the product is!) is never paid. Don’t get me wrong, my blog is something I do with pleasure and I love it, it’s my passion, but it is also a business for me, so: doing it all for free is not an option, as I really try to do it for a living. This, by the way, is one of the reasons why I only write about things that I really love and can clearly recommend to you (even though there’s always a chance that someone doesn’t like the products as much as I do!). I don’t want to spend my time writing about how bad something is, that’s why I pick out my favorites, things that really satisfy my beauty needs and that convince me of their quality.

But I heard you: almost everybody wants the beauty section back and I don’t want to let you wait for it forever. So here is a first try of a comeback: my five favorite foundations (at the moment, but they have been for quite some time!) – plus: a newcomer and my all-time favorite, which I actually shouldn’t show as the color isn’t available anymore (but that doesn’t mean that the foundation isn’t great for you in your own color!). This is not supposed to be a review, so don’t expect detailed information on these products but my opinion (which might be a little affected by my love for them!) about them. ;)

Giorgio Armani Crema Nuda “#1 Nude Glow” *

Actually, this tinted cream is my Holy Grail, I love it even more than my all-time favorite. But there’s a very dark side to it: the price. € 150,- is just waaaay to much for this product. Still, I think I’ll be crazy enough to pay it whenever my pot is empty (hopefully never!). But there are a lot of pros: this cream is like a symbiosis of liquid silk and velvet, the texture is the most delicious thing your skin will ever feel. Plus, the color is great – you might think that it is too dark for me when you look at my swatches, but it’s perfect. No sharp edges, no smudges, no nothing. Perfect complexion. Also, it has a nice subtle scent which makes it even more pleasant to apply. I prefer to lightly dip my brush into the pot (I use Bobbi Brown’s “Full Coverage Face” brush with this cream) and directly apply it to my skin. I also tried using my fingers – that’s a great option, but this brush from Bobbi is so good you won’t ever want to use something else! ;)

So, honestly: this is my number one of all times. It hurts to look at the price tag and you’ll probably feel as bad as f*** when you spend your money on it, but when you first apply it, everything will be forgotten. Promise!

Givenchy TEINT Couture Long-Wearing Fluid Foundation SPF 20 “3 Elegant Sand” *

I’ve already written a review about this foundation, you can read it → here (unfortunately, only available in German). It is still one of my favorites when I really need an impeccable complexion. There’s not much to say, this foundation is just great. No cons!

MAC Prep+Prime BB Cream (2010) *

Well, it’s probably not the best idea to talk about a product that has been relaunched with a new composition and in “many” colors. The version from 2010 is still my favorite, it was the best BB Cream I’ve ever had and there’s not much left in my little tube. I already visited the MAC counter here in Hamburg and had a look at the new BB Creams. They smell like this one, the lightest shades “Light Plus” and “Extra Light” look pretty much the same, but something is different. I think I’ll have to buy the new BB Cream and test it properly to be able to say more. Anyways: I’m very sad that MAC discontinued this version. :(

You can still read my review → here (sorry, German only, it’s been some time since I wrote it…).

Dior Diorskin Nude BB Cream “001” *

But don’t worry – the Diorskin Nude BB Cream is the perfect substitute for my MAC love. It’s a bit more creamy and not as sheer but kind of a very (read: extremely!) light foundation. I’d definitely buy it again!

Here’s → my review about it (another one in German, I’m really sorry – but the pictures say it all!).

Artistry Hydrating Foundation “10 Chablis” *

The last favorite is this foundation from Artistry. It was kind of a little surprise for me. Please note that I distance myself from their work system, I know that many aren’t happy with it. I don’t want to talk about this because it’s about the product and this foundation is really great. So if you don’t like the brand, that’s okay, you don’t have to like the foundation, either. Anyways, this is a decent product and doesn’t make any problems. :) That’s why I love to use it.

Givenchy TEINT Couture Balm “3 Nude Sand” *

There’s also something else I want to show you – Givenchy’s newcomer, the “TEINT Couture Balm”. It’s not a foundation (it’s neither very opaque), not a BB Cream (nor is it light and sheer), it’s something in between. “Balm” is definitely the right word for it. The texture is deliciously creamy (seems like I’m hungry while writing this post, haha!), plus the effect on your skin is – like the packaging says – kind of blurring, it just makes your skin look photoshopped. A very nice product that’s convinced me from the moment I first tried it.

03

Chanel Vitalumière “05  Diaphane”

And there’s always my all-time favorite. I’m only sharing it with you because I really like the foundation. This color, unfortunately, isn’t available anymore. You can’t even get it abroad. This is very sad because the color is perfect for me. That’s why I don’t use it very often (as you can see), only for special occasions when I want my complexion to look perfect. Anyways, now I’ve got an alternative with the “Crema Nuda” from Armani, but this one is a more opaque thing, so if your skin has some blemishes, you should try the “Vitalumière” from Chanel. I can definitely recommend it.

  • Hey Lu!
